GRAPHIC STUDIES
Drawing occupies a special position in art.
In the visual arts, it is the most spontaneous formulation of what a person sees and what they think; put more clearly: what a person feels through their seeing (one path) and what they feel through their thinking (the other path).
The true quality of drawing lies in its immediacy!
As a draftsman, the artist captures the essential like in no other medium.
The drawing has potential simply as an image in its own right; it often serves as the foundation for everything that follows. Its symbols therefore resonate with the viewer more deeply than ANYWHERE ELSE. It is the result of seeing, absorbing, and transferring that vision to paper by hand.
From the rehearsal stage
Such graphic studies mean capturing fractions of a second of a choreography; they contribute essentially to varied further work.
